Meridian39

Hand-finished in Neuchâtel. 120 pieces.

Chapter 1 of 5 · Turn

The watch turns to face you

A 39 mm case in polished and brushed steel, 11.2 mm tall, so it slips under a cuff.

The atelier

Slow work, done properly

  1. Macro view of a watchmaker's bench with tweezers and small watch parts

    The bench

Four hundred and twelve parts, set by hand

Every Meridian 39 is assembled by one watchmaker at a single oak bench in Neuchâtel. Bridges are placed with steel tweezers, screws are polished flat and each jewel is oiled under magnification before the movement is ever closed.

  2. Close-up of a jeweler's loupe resting on polished metal

    The loupe

Finished to be seen at ten times

Edges are anglé by hand and checked through a 10× loupe, because the most patient finishing belongs where only the owner will ever look. A single bridge can take a full working day to bevel and polish.

  3. Engraving tool cutting fine lines into metal in a workshop

    The engraving

Numbered, signed, and cut by hand

The rotor is engraved with a hand-guided graver in a pattern drawn for this edition alone. The case back carries your piece number, from 001 to 120, and the day the watch was completed.

Fifteen days on the regulator

Before it is cased, every calibre AH-21 runs for a fortnight in five positions. We keep the rate chart with the papers.

Why the dial is smoked, not painted

The fumé effect is built from thin lacquer coats, each darker toward the edge, so the colour moves as the light does.

A bench above the lake

Neuchâtel has made watches for three centuries. Our atelier sits two streets from the lake, in a former engraving shop.

“A restrained watch that rewards a second look, and then a third.”
The Horological Review
“The finishing is where the money went, and you can see it.”
Quarterly Escapement
“Thirty-nine millimetres, exactly right. The green dial is the quiet star.”
